The class was about 3/4 full. I don't remember the exact count, but I do remember there being a good amount of people, but still room enough to breathe. Louie Boria was in my class.
I agree with you that they failed to specifically cover the 4 points in class. They touched on them throughout the class through anecdotes, but didn't address them specifically.
I can't say that I feel scammed, because I didn't have to pay, and they did provide a decent product, albeit a product of far less value and quality than advertised. But I do feel a bit duped. The workshop was probably a big learning experience for actors just starting out, which there were alot of in my class. But for people like us that have been doing it for a little while, I expected more training, critique, and inside information. In that regard I feel a bit disrespected. Especially since I didn't really learn much more than I would have from a local casting director and because I was supposed to be finishing a scene for a friend's film, but had to push my call time back a couple of hours in order to attend the class. Had I known what little I was going to get out of the workshop, I would have skipped it and went to set.
I guess we learned a hard lesson in doing more research into industry people from the mainland putting on workshops here.
Hey Gina - I agree with you about the Jane Jenkins workshop, but I didn't want to say anything because I received a scholarship to attend. But the truth of it for me is that I'm glad I got to go for free because I didn't learn anything that I hadn't already learned from Wayne or Anna Fishburn or Margaret Doversola. I got good feedback from Jane when I did my scene and from her two lackeys, but I felt like they were just being kind. Plus, I'm pretty sure the younger of the two assistants was hitting on a young girl who flew in from the Big Island, which I thought was incredibly unprofessional, and for me having grown up on the Big Island, felt like he was trying to hook up with my little sister (even though she is totally unrelated to me). I definitely would have regretted it had I shelled out my own $250 to attend.
Hello Gina,
Was good meeting you in class last night. So you have been getting auditions thorugh having an agent? I am hoping to sign with an agency shortly. Had a not such memorable experience a few years back after signing with a well known agency. Hope I did well last night. I have only been seeing Wayne since january. Last night was my 8th session total so far. Well, keep up the great work, you are a natural. Have a great weekend.
