The main two characters were black. However, if we are defining "black movie" aka Tyler Perry's Alex Cross, "Good Deeds," "Why Did I Get Married," and any of the Madea Movies, than no, none have graced Kahala Mall with their presence.
Being that it is based on a story about a black man saving his wife from slavery, ummm, I would say it can be considered a "black movie". Now you are just being picky.. Why, because it's not a Tyler Perry movie? He has other ethnicities in his movies.
You need to clarify what your issue is exactly. To make an inaccurate statement like that based on the way you worded it, was unnecessary. So the Bob Marley and Tribe Called Quest documentary that they showed aren't black films either, I gather? They have shown a lot of Indie movies and documentaries there.
My daughter and I saw "Beasts of the Southern Wild" at Kohala Mall - does that count as a Black Film?
I was trying to respond to your issue with Kahala mall theatre on the current casting group, but I couldn't find where you posted.
Anyway, I saw Django there.
